About Sylvia
Originally from Shetland, I’m now based in Moray.

I am a people person with 30 years of experience in community learning & development, both in paid & voluntary roles.
My strengths lie in working with people & bringing them together to find solutions and achieve outcomes, from volunteers and communities to partnerships and stakeholders.
My diverse career and studies have given me key skills and a track record on community facilitation, consultation, project and event management, fund raising, leadership, change management, campaigning for change, achieving outcomes and communication.
I am a practical activist with a problem solving mind set; I like to see a job or project through to completion.
I work well under my own initiative but am also a team player; I also enjoy mentoring others. I remain calm in a crisis and look for the practical solution; I am not afraid of a challenge – I like to bring about change!

“Sylvia has been a great support to us while developing a new service. She has brought her knowledge and expertise, providing good advice and insight.”
Testimonial from Mairi McCallum, Project Manager at Moray Food Plus
“I had the pleasure of meeting Sylvia while providing support to people during the first Covid 19 lockdown.
Since then we have worked together doing community engagement work for a community plan for our local area. Sylvia has also helped set up and provide exciting workshops for the young people that I work with.
Sylvia has a vast range of knowledge, skills and insight of community work which is shared in an enthusiastic and non-judgemental manner. I look forward to working together again soon and wish you every success in your new journey.”
Testimonial from Claire Brenton, Kinloss Crafty Cool Kids Club
